I find it a bit hard to buy into Erskins answer that it had nothing to do with the Beagle incident. Why would a heavy weight go after a smaller middle weight when England had skates on the ice. In any event, I think the smaller guy acquitted himself rather well. The fight did little if anything to spark the Caps and I have to call it a draw.

Wow, read the small blurb on the websites home page. Erskine says it wasn't about retribution. He saw an oppurtunity to get his team going and knew Asham would drop the mits. Solid Draw. As far as Jay Beagle goes, he was taking liberties trying to mix it up when he knows he's not that type of player. Asham went to put him in check. Beagle knew what he was getting himself into before he dropped the gloves... go back and watch the fight. He was a willing participant. He got knocked the hell out. Where's the redemption? What did Asham have to "pay for"? The gesture? Please.

I like how the announcer melodramatically states "Erskine says to Asham do you remember Jay Beagle...?" In fact, right after the game Erskine said the fight had nothing to do with Jay Beagle but wanted to get his team going immediately following the Adams goal. Also, Erksine landed helmet only and the club to the back knocked Asham off balance. Don't see how this could be anything but a draw... maybe edge Asham for actually landing a few decent blows

Come on people....Erskine goes about 6'5" 250lbs vs a 5'11'' 190lb middle weight. And it was still a draw...slipping on the ice doesn't count as a knock down. Even Engelland is only 200lbs-not a true Heavyweight. Erskine needs to save the hero act for guys like MCyntire. And then nonsense about Asham "going after Beagle" is BS. Beagle was throwing himself around and chose to fight Asham after Asham told him to settle down.

First time watching I thought Erskine won decisively....after watching a couple of times each landed what appeared one solid punch and the rest glancing blows, with Erskine falling on top of Asham at the end of the fight. Good Tough Toe-to-Toe Fight.

AA punch after the punch knocking Erskine's helmet is the only punch of the fight and looked like a good one. Looks like Asham takes a dive still feeling a bit bad for the last beating.

Both guys swinging hard, but most of Erskine punches miss. It's close, but I've got to give the slight edge to the smaller guy. Huge size difference, but just coz a guys bigger and swings and misses, doesn't earn the win.

Honestly, the size difference is remarkable that Erskine really couldn't land anything. I am sorry to say but if you watch the fight, nothing was really landed, the best punches were thrown by AA and Erskine for as big as he is couldn't do much, Have to give the edge to Asham.

I watched the fight on dvr about 5 times..On here twice..Honestly Erskine landed 1 clean punch and a tackle..Asham had to punch up but had 3 clean hits..Give a close call to the much smaller Asham....Many are saying Erskines throws Bombs...He may but none landed..Open your eyes and actually count how many time his knuckles hit Asham?? MAYBE once, the rest were with his inner wrist/arm for missing badly..

Erskine landed a few big ones and probably the biggest on the takedown but I admire heart in a fight. Asham knew he had to step up for what he did to Beagle and he did. Heart and effort go to Asham. Size goes to Erskine. With Asham being the underdog and doing as well as he did, I had to give him the win. What a great fight. I respect both of these players greatly.

Liked the stagger-start intro by Erskine, who, somewhat surprisingly, seemed to handle the ever-game, Asham, this time out.. Size may have played a factor, but that initial fling, and punch combo against the boards...looked painful.

Very close fight; at first it seemed like a clear win for Erskine, but after watching it four times, its pretty clear most of his punches missed; in the end, Erskine landed 3 solid shots to Asham's 2...so slight edge to the big fella.

I've seen Big John in some good ones recently, including against Andrew Bolton, and Big Mike Rupp in the WInter Classic, both last year. But I don't think I've ever seen him throw that hammer with such fury. And he didn't even make any mocking gestures towards his home crowd after he won the fight.
