Hit seemed fine, and, actually... what you'd expect, when cruising, horizontally, near the blue line, with your head down. Gleason, over-reatcs, flies in, and drops to his knees? leaving Sutton to do, what Sutton does best... i.e. lose anyway.

Gonger, it was a long night of Sutton being Sutton. He got away with a knee to Eric Staal early in the game. He was guilty of boarding twice in this game, including a hit to the head of Alexei Ponikarovsky. He'll certainly be suspended no less than six games for his hit to Poni. He's a repeat offender this season with a 5 game suspension for a hit to the head of Gabriel Landeskog last month. In short, this hit was clean, but it wasn't necessary, and Sutton was dirty all night long. It was finally time for him to pay the piper, even if it wasn't much of a fight.

how you could score a win for anyone here is ridiculous. there wasnt even a fight.

THIS totally clean hit starts a fight ??? It appeared Sutton hit him with his RIBS !!!!! Christ, I can remember that punk, a--hole Scott Stevens doing that numerous times & he got GLORIFIED for it !!!!!!!!!!! BUT he usually did it against Euros only !!!!! No fight here AGAIN !!!! Not worthy of any ratings !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is that even a fight?! Was there even a punch thrown? There might of been one by Gleasson.. might.... I'm sure Gleason did not want to get up and fight Sutton that's why he just lay on him. Nice show put on by Gleason defending a teammate... lol show...

It's a shame Hockeyfights doesn't use some common sense when they post these so-called fights. Soon they can change their name to Hockey let's

Why the "fight" over the hit? Why not just run Eberle?

Posted by GreatMurray on December 08, 2011 at 12:48 PM

No fight! Good call on the penalties. Quit fighting over clean hits...just target the other guys stars with clean hits.

Having not seen the game, to drop the mitts over a hit like that is just plane asinine, McSorely wouldn't have done that for 99 Winner: SABERHATRED and a capital 1

Gleason throws a punch that misses and Sutton falls down crap fight

Posted by TCJays63 on January 18, 2012 at 01:37 AM

Worst fight ever if you call it a fight.

Posted by DARCY T on December 08, 2011 at 04:05 PM

Posted by Mark1967 on December 12, 2011 at 04:37 PM

Posted by hochey08 on December 08, 2011 at 01:36 AM

If Skinner is going to freewheel into the offensive zone like that he can expect that eventually a concrete pillar is going to be setting him up for a heavy hit. Not much of a fight as Gleason went after Sutton and got tossed with two minutes left in a tight game--not too smart.

Posted by slainte12 on December 08, 2011 at 12:48 PM

What is happening to the NHL where a clean hit causes a fight. This was all on Skinner who needs to watch where he's going. I don't care what Sutton did before, there was no reason to try and fight him for this clean hit. Everytime someone gets knocked down now, it's a fight...I'm all for the fights, but keep it to when there's a real reason! Just dumb....

Tim Gleason = Biggest vag in NHL

Posted by Caniac101 on December 10, 2011 at 02:37 AM

Everybody is missing the point of this fight... Sutton laid a cheapshot on Ponikarovsky earlier in the game and boarded him. Yes, the hit on Skinner was clean. Gleason knows it was clean, but he was sending a message to not go after their skilled players. Especially laying a hit like that down 2 with 2 minutes left in the game. Message sent, and Sutton didnt want a piece of Gleason. Gleason is doing what he is paid to do, play defense and defend his stars. End of story.

Weak fight.

Posted by Guido_Poing on December 08, 2011 at 04:16 PM

Of course it was a crap fight, but Sutton had this (and a lot more) coming. Gleason made a bad move just because he was tired of watching Sutton take shots. Too bad the Canes didn't have someone who could have ended Sutton's night with a KO, because he would have earned every inch of it.

Posted by slshbleed on December 08, 2011 at 01:06 PM

Gleason really laid into him. I mean he really, really laid into him. In fact, he actually laid on him. I was in a walking coma for a while for some reason. I hope I am shaking it off.

Sit down skinner...bad draw

FIGHT OF THE YEAR wow...what a bout, tons of haymakers, toe to toe action wow...gave it a 10 such a great fight

Posted by FHgrad99 on December 08, 2011 at 03:09 AM

To call this a "fight" is an insult to fights everywhere. Blink and you might miss it because it was just two guys trying to pull eachother off their feet for abut 5 seconds and that's it.

Posted by kkdowning on December 08, 2011 at 08:59 AM

that was a clean hit, but Sutton is getting suspended for an earlier boarding call. No fight here

Posted by dutchman on December 08, 2011 at 11:04 AM

That was a great, clean hit.

What did Gleason accomplish?

Posted by Rags4Life on December 08, 2011 at 10:15 AM

Your not gonna always get away with doing that fancy dipsy doodle move, Skinner. More times than not, your gonna get planted. Sutton should be thanking his lucky stars that he skated off to the box with his head still on his shoulders. The biggest player to ever suck at fighting in hockey would have gotten destroyed by the much smaller, much gamer, Timmy Gleason.
