After dealing with Bobrovsky's childish antics the first 2 periods Nash says enough is enough and gives the smaller calvert what he wanted. Decent effort from a guy who's fought 8 times in a 12 year NHL career. Calvert with the takedown at the end but Nash lands the most significant shots.

FYI, post-game comments from Nash and Calvert indicated that Calvert started the fight because of an earlier scrum. So the "picking on someone half his size" argument doesn't work in this case. Besides, Calvert handled himself pretty well.

So that's what a fired up Rick Nash looks like

Posted by sloppythirds on March 24, 2014 at 12:50 PM

Nash impressive with the force of some of his throws. Not sure Calvert accomplished anything other than firing up the Rangers even more.

All the Rangers said it in the locker room -- Nash's fight riled them up. Gave everyone a little inspiration. Don't think anyone on the Rangers had ever seen Nash fight. And about that unfair size advantage Nash had. In a whole lot of fights (see Brian Boyle v. anybody), size doesn't matter a bit! Their goalie whacked Nash twice. Calvert cross checked Nash twice (right before the fight). What else could Nash do but fight the guy? He was practically given a written invitation!

Calvert outclassed and outmatched by his former captain. Columbus shows why they know nothing about hockey. Nash put them on the map, holds every record and they boo him?

Calvert picked the fight; Nash was getting hacked at by Bob, shit was on the cards and Calvert got what he asked for. Win Nash.

Nash Fighting against his former team picks up the win.

the London Knight gives out a kelly green bitch slapping! Hilarious, good work Nasher!

mman2908, Nash "picked the fight?" Not sure what video you are watching. All Calvert, kept going at him until he got what he wanted. Be objective, ignore the uniforms.

Nash finally does something for the Rangers

Posted by Rando716 on March 26, 2014 at 09:03 PM

Now Mr. Nash.. lets see you take on someone that can actually fight!

Posted by DARCY T on March 30, 2014 at 12:04 PM

calvert showed some heart here cos this was huuge size mismatch.and calvert was doing fine.nash landed a couple punches more but it looked harmless but calvert ended fight in controlling position over nash and i call it a draw.im fine with edge nash calls though

Posted by ScarbroSaint on March 24, 2014 at 05:36 PM

nasher with the big helmet punch should of killed this kid with his size advantage lucky he dident break his hads oh yea he got hands of stone this year ha ha should have been a holding on nasher and crosschecking on that culvert .

RICCCCCCCCCCCCCCKY!

Calvert seemed to be the one that wanted this the most. A much smaller player he does play with an edge. Unfortunately for him edge without comparable size and reach means you get your helmet knocked flying off your head and have to eat a few straights. Nash with an easy win.

Good for Nash! Nice to see him have some balls for once.

Posted by Humper on March 24, 2014 at 10:06 AM

For a softee, Nash lays a decent beating on his (admittedly Lilliputian) opponent.

Posted by kkdowning on March 25, 2014 at 09:26 AM

Giving the edge to Nash in this one (it wold have been embarrassing for him to have lost). Watching the whole game, Nash was acting a bit petulant for most of the game -- of course, the Blue Jackets may have been talking a ton of smack to to Nash to incite him.

Calvert picks a fight with someone who may not fight, but is much larger, and ends up paying the price. Nash wins this one, and pretty convincingly. Funny that he'd fight in his Columbus return, seems a little odd that this is the night he'd choose to fight.

Tango&Nash is fired up...& he also gets the W

Rick Nash is the biggest North American pussy at 6' 4" in possibly the NHL's history. I'm surprised he even fought another North American player. He rarely fights and when he does, it's always against a euro or someone tiny who doesn't fight or all of the above. The guy is a crybaby and the Rangers are a perfect fit for a pansy like him.

Posted by ironbar44 on March 24, 2014 at 07:57 AM

NASH is so soft .even if he edges calvert

Posted by Great Murray on March 26, 2014 at 07:39 AM

Like Clarkson, Nash has not come close to earning his salary. He cross-checked the goalie earlier...3 Million for than eh. Now he just landed one or two punches to win this fight. 1.5 Million per punch, I guess. He hasn't done anything else all year. AUDIT: Big Guy-No Hit. Great Skater-No "D" Great Hands-No Offense Big Guy-Never goes to the dirty places. Sounds like a great fit for Toronto. Nash for Phaneuf...both teams will suck even worse! St. Louis has to be wondering what the hell he was thinking!!!

Posted by HAM14 on March 24, 2014 at 10:06 PM

Guess when you cant't score, might as well try and win at something. Nash is worthless. Even with his reach he fails to give an adequate beating in what should have been a complete beat down. It's also funny that he got so angered about his stick being knocked away from Bobrovsky. Guy can't score, fight, or even hit for that matter. Great at camping out at the blue line waiting for someone to hit him with a long-stretch pass.... End rant. Bottom line, thanks NY for taking this douchebag. I think CBJ made out a lot better in that deal regardless of the score of this game/fight. P.S. Dorsett is a big puss too!

Posted by bigmike53 on March 24, 2014 at 01:53 AM

Calvert stands up to Nash and pays for it. The reach advantage was so obvious but kudos to Calvert for hanging in there. Win Nash.

Yea Nash picks a fight with someone half his size.. Freakin loser
