Not a dirty hit on Letang, but Doan stepped up when he had to, one of the most respectable guys in the league. As for the fight, in spite of what these Coyotes announcers would tell you, I believe that Downie had a slight edge in this fight. Hugfest for the most part, Downie actually landed one or two that didn't hit a helmet. Homer review, but it's what I think, this could be a draw too.

Maybe I should turn in my hockey fan card. I'm about to say something I think will be unpopular. The injury to Letang wasn't caused by a dirty hit by Doan. Even Downie said afterward than he has nothing but respect Doan and that he didn't think it was done on purpose. Essentially Downie stood up for his teammate. I guess it was a "professional" fight? This makes zero sense. Doan didn't do it to Letang. It was a freak accident, really. Looking at what happened to Letang I'm wondering if he should have continued his career after the injuries and stroke. I mean he wasn't boarded. He wasn't hit in a way that was close to even be a dirty and he winds up hospitalized. Even the COYOTES were applauding Letang when he got taken off the ice. Fine. Or Maybe not.
