Great, clean hip check, just like old time hockey.

Posted by mckendo83 on March 14, 2007 at 08:48 AM

Gauthier did nothing wrong here...he threw an amazing hipcheck and then took his licks for throwing a perfectly "LEGAL" hit... Barch did his job, gauthier did his...As least dennis dropped the gloves and took some shots instead of turtling right away...dennis is always accountable.

Barch - job well done, as legal as the hit was enforcement was required!...and Gauthier took a licking.

EVERYONE BITCHING ABOUT GAUTHIER'S HIT SHOULD TAKE THEIRS SKIRTS OFF AND BE QUIET.... Gauthier can be chippy/dirty with his hits but this wasn't one of them...connors needs glasses if he didn't see him coming and the hit was nowhere near his knees... regardless, barch did what he had to do... fortunately, for him the flyers PP stinks and the extra penalty didn't hurt the team

That was a perfectly clean, legal hit. Connor saw him coming, he could have pulled up and avoided it but he wanted to play hero and go after the puck. He got his. Gauthier is tough as nails but can't really fight, but understood that he was probly gonna have to answer to someone. I'm sure Fedoruk would have gone with Barch, but it looks like Krys went for an easy win.

The hip check was the best part.

Posted by mmaz24 on March 14, 2007 at 10:04 AM

Clean hit. Gauthier is not a fighter.

barch had to do what what he did

"Gauthier.............he led with his bum"

Is this Women's hockey now? What's with everyone laying on the ice lately?

Posted by Jxmarts on March 15, 2007 at 05:07 PM

It was a hip check all right, but how much lower could Gauthier possibly go without intending to take out his opponent's knees? I love hard-hitting hockey, but I'm surprised so many here call it a clean check because I don't think Gauthier literally could've "stooped" any lower than he did. Barch did exactly what an enforcer should do in a situation like that to go after Gauthier. I only wish the officials had let Barch beat on him a little longer.

mikebflorida is the stupidest guy on this site. The intent is to take out a guys knees? Do you even know hockey? Its called the classic hip check. Bobby Orr did it the best. Its a legal clean hit and anyone who plays hockey will tell you its an art form. You dont get punched when you score a goal or deliver a hip check. I like to watch fighting, but it should be fair fighting--not non-fighter vs fighter. and it shouldnt be retaliation for a classic play. mikebflorida ask anyone :do you think if you hip check a guy --he should get pummeled? thats crazy. next there will be justification for fighting a goalie that made a great save. give me a break --learn the sport--

Gauthier isn't a fighter...was a clean hit but as has been said here. Words were needed Barch stepped up and dealt them. Barch obviously won that one.

Posted by aerotunes on March 16, 2007 at 10:54 AM

Gauthier is a cheap shot artist who can not back up his style of play. Domi, Tucker, Jansen ... all cheap shot artist who back up their style. Gauthier reminds me of his boss ... Bobby Clark, he always took cheap shots and let the rest of his goons cover his weakling back. Typical Flyers hockey.

Barch just labled that turtle Gauthier

Posted by flyguy4 on March 14, 2007 at 05:17 PM

gauthier doesnt need to fight....thats what fedoruk and eager are there for. gauthier is there to scare people whenever they come into the flyers zone.

Posted by Blues58 on March 14, 2007 at 07:10 PM

Clean hit. c'mon he's leading with his ass no intent on this one. if its a clean hit then why does barch have to go? weak ..barch kind of looked like the fool in the end.

Posted by BattleAxe13 on March 15, 2007 at 04:48 PM

Good hit by Gauthier, but once again Gauthier can't back up anything with his fists. I can't believe that I actually read from an idiot Flyer fan that Ben Eager can beat George Laraque. Ben Eager couldn't even handle slip and fall wobbley kneed Chris Thorburn, how could he even fathom trying to fight the champ? What is it with Flyer fans? Your team sucks all around with the standings, offense, defense, and fighting. The Broadstreet bullies are gone, when cheif Flyer punk Derian Hatcher retires, maybe the Flyers will have a shot at being halfway decent again.

Great Hit By Gathier..He Doesnt Nnormally Dropped The Gloves Tho..Evident By The fight

Posted by unvy on March 14, 2007 at 09:01 PM

Good clean hit and Gauthier gets hammered? I guess guys will stop checking other guys sooner or later if they think they'll have to fight someone then this will be a non contact sport. It's bullshit. If it's a dirty hit, I can see someone needing to pay up, but anymore, clean hits require guys to drop them whether they want to or not. Pussies need to learn to take hits.

Posted by shrk33 on March 15, 2007 at 01:28 AM

I like the check, not much of a fight really. How does anyone vote for Gauthier, maybe because of the nice hip check? Come on people!

Posted by mailman1194 on March 22, 2007 at 01:41 AM

There has been many times Gauthier deserved a wipping, but that was a legal check . Hagman saw him coming all the way. He even tries to jump, which probably knocked Gauthier's helmit off and hurt himself. I guess if you want beat a guy for a legal hit, kudos to Barch. I'm not impressed. If that's the case, they should drop Simon's suspension. Seems people think if a person gives a good check , they need to sustain an ass- whipping. People like Hollweg deserve ass- whippings for dirty checks, not checks like this.

Gauthier deserved that he hits everybody like that then never wants to drop them good for barch

Posted by mlkroyals1 on March 14, 2007 at 09:02 PM

if only the fight was longer

Posted by Juha82 on February 26, 2010 at 12:15 PM

CLEAR WIN Barch as u can expect before fight. About was clean one.-

Posted by mijlandrew on March 14, 2007 at 02:20 PM

anybody who thinks gauthier did something wrong in this instance is holding past unclean hits against him. for once gauthier comes up with a clean hit. perhaps barch should have stood "toe to toe" with fedoruk (although fedoruk hasn't looked all that great fight-wise).

Posted by bronx1981 on March 15, 2007 at 09:25 PM

Great hit, but wrecked that dudes knee. He should expect a beating if he hurts another player, intentional or not. Too bad Gauthier is turtled. Why not fight the dude, instead of lookin like a female dog?

Posted by lilburtis9363 on March 14, 2007 at 12:12 PM

gauthier injures a player and barch comes over and feeds him some rights then catches him off guard with lefts as he goes to his knees and the linesman come in to save him

Posted by chl37 on March 14, 2007 at 07:47 AM

gauthier found out theres a big difference between attacking detroit's lilja from behind with gloves off and visor on, than it is standing toe to toe with a legitimate fighter. he had it coming in a big way.

Posted by midmusq on March 14, 2007 at 08:06 AM

Gauthier should go if he's gonna throw.

Posted by Mill235 on March 14, 2007 at 10:10 AM

barch taught gauthier a fast lesson...

Posted by crouse77 on March 14, 2007 at 01:41 PM

gauthier is a pussy

Posted by mikebflorida on March 14, 2007 at 09:13 AM

Gauthier is a douchebag, always has been. The intent of that type of check is to take out a guys knees, far worse than, in my opinion whacking a guy with a stick. When is the NHL going to wake up???
