Janssen got knocked out in front of his family haha

Posted by wallysy1 on February 13, 2009 at 08:47 AM

great hit. and...GREAT HIT imagine thinking that jannsen won it? hmmm..whats the point? trying to convince someone?

Posted by tiburon4 on February 13, 2009 at 01:32 PM

Looks evened out to me: draw.

Posted by abrod01 on February 15, 2009 at 10:30 PM

great effort by Janssen, if he wasnt at such a disadvantage (height, arm lenght, and weight) he would have OWNED.

Posted by Chaotic8 on February 13, 2009 at 02:02 AM

That's what Janssen gets for the typical retaliation instigator fight. Hell if someone throws a big hit against a teammate, HIT EM BACK!

Posted by oltimehockey on February 14, 2009 at 04:18 AM

Wade starts and finishes Cam.

Posted by Tweeks on February 13, 2009 at 09:01 AM

I had to watch this one a few times to get a better opinion. Belak with the obvious win for getting the one good punch. But the hit that started it and kept getting discussed by the announcers wasn't what I would call clean. It was more like very borderline. Instead of dropping his shoulder and keeping his elbow in, Belak does just the opposite and even follows through with his elbow to finish him off. It doesn't look like a deliberate dirty elbow, which is why it wasn't called I'm assuming, but it was certainly deserving of a challenge which he got from Janssen. That's just good reffing right there. Keep the flow of the game going and let the guys settle it amongst themselves. Heck, whoever took that hit might figure out what playing with your head up actually means.

Posted by Gunslinger on February 13, 2009 at 04:08 PM

Pretty even until Wade corked him. To bad Cam's parents had to see that . Who the heck voted for Janssen, his mom?

Posted by Rantavahti on February 13, 2009 at 03:53 PM

He's not my favorite but gotta admit, Belak is good. Maybe in the top 3 with Boogaard and Laraque?

Posted by Nickanto on February 13, 2009 at 01:27 PM

Coming from a huge Blues/Janssen fan, definite win by Belak, but all this KO talk is just ridiculous. Belak hit Janssen in the forehead and last time I was in that position my hand hurt worst than the other guys forehead I'm sure. Janssen was off balance, and Belak landed a decent punch that sent him to the ice, end of story. No KO, no TKO. A knock down is all at was.

Posted by DARCY T on May 17, 2009 at 12:56 PM

one of few belaks better fights

Posted by trpaulson on February 15, 2009 at 11:46 AM

Belak at his best. Janssen better pick on somebody else. He's gonna get really hurt one of these times.

Posted by tyrone on February 13, 2009 at 01:19 PM

I hate Belak, but a win is a win. I love it when some dumba$$ comes in to play tough guy after a clean hit and gets smoked. I wish that would happen every time.

Posted by illinidarin on February 13, 2009 at 11:33 AM

No doubt Belak won and i dont think janssen did anything wrong by going after him, you are supposed to stick up for your teammates. i think the fans forget that is what is supposed to happen. I really wish King was healthy right now because i seriously doubt that we would of have seen a KO.

Posted by alesek1979 on February 13, 2009 at 01:49 AM

Why is everyone so surpriced about clean hit equaling in a fight??!!! Don't you get it?!! Scrappers are "literally" fighting for their spot on the team. So therefore, taking any excuse to get something going. ....modern hockey politics seem to be not in favour of hockey fights. Soon or later, there will be no fighting in hockey! Watch!!! ...and then me and Probie will go kill Gary Batman!!!

Posted by wildfan4eva on February 12, 2009 at 11:57 PM

Belak just smoked Janssen, I was shocked to see Janssen get put on his arse....Belak is tough and very underrated!!

Posted by Sasky001 on February 16, 2009 at 11:09 PM

Jan fights like a girl in this one. Jersey jabs don't work against real heavy weights. Good night.

Posted by peeks on February 12, 2009 at 11:59 PM

Not close one bit, Belak is an animal, the guy has been around and beat many greats...look it up on youtube if you don't believe me!! Win to B MAN!!

Posted by staceyb on February 13, 2009 at 05:41 AM

When Janssen goes toe to toe he becomes an inviting target. Belak can still throw them.

Posted by bruiser11 on February 13, 2009 at 09:49 AM

belak won that 1

Posted by TIRE TIM on February 16, 2009 at 09:28 PM

nice move by belak no tko if that was a clean hit why didnt belak keep skatin----he knew it was cheap and was waiting for someone to step up

Posted by hall5875 on February 13, 2009 at 12:31 AM

the announcers touched on it. a clean hit is a clean hit, not deserving of a fight. i hate how bush-league the nhl is getting. however, who's the gomer who voted a draw?

Posted by kmd19 on February 13, 2009 at 11:28 AM

Belak with another solid win this year.

Posted by Leafs2006 on February 14, 2009 at 10:53 AM

" Cam's parents are in the house to watch him get hammerred" is what the Blues announce should have said. Why did the Leafs let this guy go is beyond me. Janssen's is a lab rat anyway, but he could hammer Christine Neil...the leagues true heavyweight champ! Woof Woof! LOL Cheers

Posted by AdmiralsCaptain on February 13, 2009 at 06:46 PM

almost 13 % DIDN'T think Belak won???? wtf. Belak with a superb finish.

Hello Cameron, let me introduce you to my fist. Bye bye.

Posted by grappler11 on February 14, 2009 at 12:24 PM

belak gets win, landed more punches, looked like belak's elbow came up as he hit perron, clean hit or no, if you stand over the guy you hit then you better be ready to fight.

Posted by Formerref on February 14, 2009 at 10:05 AM

Belak got the TKO. Good to see Janssen get owned

Posted by mikebflorida on February 13, 2009 at 09:23 AM

Great hit by Belak but an even better left hand that floors Janssen. TKO win for Belak. How do 20% vote this a draw? Idiots......

Posted by brazos on February 13, 2009 at 10:54 AM

All of the Janssen haters will have a field day with this one. Janssen clearly was at a disadvantage due to the reach difference. He hung in there but got tagged a good one. Clear win to Belak I don't hate or have a favorite among any of the fighters I just try to give a common sense review without being prejudiced unlike a lot of the people who do reviews. Oh, by the way ,what is wrong with trying to stay out of your opponents reach? Only an idiot would stand there and let someone continue to hit them in the face without moving. Laraque uses the spin-o-rama technique , Janssen uses the duck and chuck approach. Some use the jersey jab to unbalance their opponent and then try for the bomb. Even the best fighters have always used some kind of defense. A fighter with no technique or defense will wind up on their backside in EVERY fight.

Posted by oreilly_025 on February 14, 2009 at 12:24 PM

the blues announcers are full of it, they are so lopsided, but belak laid a beat down so it shut buddy up for a while

Posted by jjjakes on February 13, 2009 at 08:35 AM

I will be the first to complain about fighting after a good, clean hit. That being said, Jansen may have responded to the fact that it was Perron that was taken out. Belak is like 2 feet taller than Perron, and flattens the kid. Anyway, maybe Perron will keep his head up from now on. Kings5075 > Belak clearly won, but a KO? He landed a good one that stunned Cam and then fell on top of him. Hardly a KO in my opinion.

Posted by JayMiller29 on February 20, 2009 at 10:54 AM

Cam doing his job coming in to help. But Belak does his job a bit better in this one...Wade with the win thanks to the knockdown.

Posted by sporr on February 13, 2009 at 01:20 PM

Two knock downs inside a minute. Nice job by Belak. Why the Avs ever got rid of him is a mystery. Wish we still had his toughness. Clear win and clean hit. The people who said it was a dirty hit becasue he hit a smaller player or elbowed him are purely out of touch. There is no size adjustment in the rules. Lesson be learned, keep your head up or else a bigger/smaller player will turn out your lights.

Posted by jcstokes on February 13, 2009 at 01:21 PM

Great hit by Belak. Followed up by a win- but, not a KO.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on February 13, 2009 at 08:32 AM

2 nice hits, nice fight, nice left to the mouth of Janssen. Belak had a good game

Posted by adambomb13 on February 13, 2009 at 09:39 AM

Belak is a beast, did I hear the announcers say that Cam's parent were in attendance ? They got to watch Cam get a beat down. Solid shots and the first stinger missile from Wade let him know right away that it's not going to be your night. EVERYONE SUCKS, NHL SUCKS, mcb789 SUCKS !

Posted by prorobo on February 13, 2009 at 02:24 AM

Belak with the win. Janssen has impressed me in the past with his fighting prowess but that clean, Belak hit did not call upon his services.

Posted by blackgoldfan on February 14, 2009 at 01:18 PM

good for belak. great hit and a great fight. this is what you want from the team tuff guy! belak tko w!

Posted by nighthawk walt on February 13, 2009 at 06:53 PM

Belak with the win,Janssen gets points for sticking up for team mate, but loses them all by not landing a punch.Hit was not a cheap shot, but the elbow did get up a bit.

Posted by hal29 on February 14, 2009 at 09:26 AM

belak with the big punches, wow are those commintators homers damn."now belak trying to come back"when was belak trying to come back?i missed that one i thought it was janssen who was on his ass!!!

Posted by bruins rule on February 12, 2009 at 09:33 PM

have to give belak the win with his 2 big left hands at the end of the fight.

Posted by kimocoyote on February 13, 2009 at 01:31 AM

Belak = one solid fighter. Good couple of rights and "turn out the lights" left.

Posted by BSTnougat on February 13, 2009 at 08:25 PM

Great hit by Belak...i wish people would start fights when it is justified instead of any time someone throws a hit. It's a little bit ridiculous. Anyway, really decent fight and Belak gets the W. Janssen wasnt his normal, violent self in that one.

Posted by dlbishop2213 on February 13, 2009 at 03:29 AM

Wade Win

Posted by GSP09 on February 13, 2009 at 11:30 PM

Belak with the win ,but no KO ,Janssen lost his balance with the last shot. And Janssen had to challenge Belak after the hit cause it is his job.

Posted by truitt on February 13, 2009 at 11:04 AM

Belak is the best fighter in the NHL...I've seen him beat every top fighter in the league.

Posted by Jake98 on February 13, 2009 at 03:44 AM

Posted by bloodyknuckles2 on February 13, 2009 at 02:55 PM

Not a fan of Janssen. Sick of watching his spinning. He should stick to the middleweights. Atta boy Belak.

Posted by Cid on February 13, 2009 at 01:57 AM

Belak has seriously impressed me this year. Some major wins over some seriously tough guys. I liked that he didn't rely entirely on the swinging and left handed jersey jab this time, like usual. Good showing from Belak with the KO! Nice to see Cam flat on his ass infront of his parents. What a great freaking hit by Wade Belak as well!! As for Janssen, I have never been a fan of his. He throws a lot of shots that miss, grabs a hold of the jersey and refuses to let go while cowering away as far as possible, preferably out of reach of his opponent. He holds off the ref and does his impression of Hulk Hogan hulking up only to swing at air a few more times with a stupid grin on his face. And if we're real lucky his jersey and shoulder pads come off and he gives us a flex on his way to the box. *sigh. Thank you for the KO, Mr. Belak!

Posted by mjb_17 on February 13, 2009 at 12:13 PM

How could anyone have voted a draw or for Janssen??? Big Wade with the "W"!!!!!

Belak controls the fight and drops Janssen at the end..

Posted by UWOStud on February 13, 2009 at 01:11 PM

As a Leafs fan, I gotta say this feels so good! Took a while...but I'm gonna think Belak remembered Janssen's hit on Kaberle....That feels good to see Janssen get hammered.

Posted by omorales on February 13, 2009 at 08:51 AM

another one that makes you go wow!!!!! how could not be a Belak win????

Posted by Jellyczar on February 13, 2009 at 06:13 PM

Belak with a beating ...... why does Janssen think he has to fight because his team mate doesn't keep his head up? Good clean hit and then a whoopin'.

Posted by scorp1on on February 13, 2009 at 06:58 AM

One-trick pony Janssen has his one trick neutralized by a neckline jersey grab and boom down he goes. He's gotta get more in his arsenal than the standing sideways, stiff-armed, spinning, quivering thing.

Posted by BrianTheAdsFan on February 13, 2009 at 09:38 AM

Good hit by Belak along the boards. Props to Janssen for stepping up for his mate, but Wade in control the entire way with the clear win coming once he switched over to the left.

Posted by MSUfaninMO on February 15, 2009 at 01:26 PM

How many time does Kelly have to mention that the fighter's parents are at the game during the bout?!?!? These two always like to have a go it seems when they play. Belak wins with the fight without doubt with that last punch

Posted by dwcca on February 13, 2009 at 09:02 AM

reason number 1 the leaf should never given him up, i been a huge belak fan since his days in calgary . he showed how good he is by changing his style to catch jansen off guard. and in regard to the comment about orr and goddard bein top guys in nhl i dunno belak is right there if not i give a slight edge to belak just due to how long he been doin this and that fact that no one has put orr down as many times. not to mention in 05 fighting brashear the following game after being high stick and got stitches by nose and eye, even brashear was surprised when belak dropped the gloves. and the last thing that makes belak stand out is his personality anyone who saw " wade a min" can see what quality person he would be and fun guy for in the dresing room. also many may no not know about is diminishing skill set , if more icetime was given early in career instead bein labled as a tuff guy i truly think we would have developed into a top 4 or 5 d man.

Posted by SirYohans on February 13, 2009 at 02:43 PM

OOOF! That was a wicked left hand by Mr. Belak that definately stung Bam Bam. Even though I've disliked Belak on and off for several reasons, he always had my respect for being one of the elite, aggressive and powerful punchers. Very impressive win and awesome season so far for Belak.

Posted by czakheim on February 13, 2009 at 01:08 PM

How can anyone vote for Janssen. Belak knocked him out. Also, Belak's hit was clean so there was no need for Janssen to challenge him in the first place.

Belak with the knockout punch! Janssen's face must be sore! easy win for my man Belak!

Posted by MajorGroove on February 13, 2009 at 11:44 AM

Love how the ref pushed them out to open ice away from the fallen player but didn't stop the fight! As for the fight, Belak owns. They trade a few haymakers then Wade brings the noise by switching to the left and scoring a knockdown. Janssen is a tought guy so I can only imagine how hard Belak hit him. Good stuff, scored it a 7.

Posted by idiotstupid2002 on February 13, 2009 at 10:24 AM

Belak is a bad mo'. Janssen is a punching bag!

Posted by tleahey on February 15, 2009 at 04:27 PM

Jansen takes a beating late in the fight...normally Jansen outlasts his guys..but Belak landed a nice one, knocking Jansen offbalance and taking Jansen to the ice. Clear win for Belak.

Posted by Bud_W_Eiser on February 13, 2009 at 11:23 AM

Good job by Belak switching hands

Posted by kevylaw on February 13, 2009 at 01:46 PM

Convincing win for Belak. Great hit on the little guy to get things going. He manned up, after the big hit he just stood there waiting for the retaliation. Thats hockey, have no problems with that, both guys doing what they are paid to do. Belak's transition from right to left was smooth and lethal for Mr. Janssen. Gave it to Belak and scored it a 7. How anyone scores this a draw or win for Janssen is beyond my comprehension. I'm no fan of either but I still call it how I see it. Even when it is a bout with one of my faves. When someone gets smoked they get smoked, end of story.

Posted by EvilVirus on July 12, 2009 at 03:52 PM

Big mistake by Janssen to try to go toe-to-toe. He was clearly dropped by the first Belak's left. Good scrap and good TKO win for Belak.

Posted by joaquin on February 13, 2009 at 06:42 AM

Too bad we didn't get a slow-mo replay of Belak's fist connecting squarely with Janssen's mandible.

Posted by arko on February 13, 2009 at 10:12 AM

Great scrap, Wade with the win. I still don't know why in the world Toronto let him go. But with Burke at the helm he just might be coming back.

Posted by terry931 on February 13, 2009 at 08:55 AM

Good job by Belak. I don't have a problem with Janssen going after him in response to the hit. It's good to see Belak answering his critics these days. He may not be leading the league in FMs but he does what needs to be done when it needs to be done. Hope he finds his way back to Toronto before long.

Posted by b.t.wilson on February 13, 2009 at 01:59 AM

Baby crying, 2:00am, headache, but so happy to see Janssen finally get knocked on his arse. Was trying his you-throw-I-throw routine but it did him no good tonight. Can't call it a KO though, maybe a TKO, although I think he just popped him good personally. Certainly not knocked out, but a fight like that where a big punch ends it, well that there is an 8 in my books and domination Belak.

Posted by zakhawk91 on February 13, 2009 at 08:34 PM

I'm a huge Cam Janssen fan, but Belak clearly dominated him in this fight. Great showing for Belak against his rival Janssen

Posted by Predsfan5595 on February 13, 2009 at 06:24 PM

Belak with win. When the predators lost hordichuk last year I was a little nervous. Tootoo is a great fighter but we needed a heavy weight to replace hordi. We went through a couple of guys before belak came around and now after this fight I am completly confident we have found a keeper for 2 to 3 years.

Posted by brashearisanape on February 13, 2009 at 01:25 PM

good CLEAN hit by Belak to spark the fight and once again a clean hit triggers a fight. Very close until the left was thrown by belak so i give the win to him.

Posted by leafslover85 on June 10, 2009 at 10:02 PM

belak dominated as ussual.

Belak is a great fighter, it was very entertaining to watch. Jannsen is a cry baby because the hit was legal and clean. He got what he deserved. It is great to watch a guy start a fight and get beat up.

Posted by E2theP on February 14, 2009 at 05:58 PM

Belak with a great hit on the boards and waited for someone to come and tell him it wasn't. I'm impressed with Belak this year he's kicking A and taking names. Oh yeah, he dominated Janssen

Posted by echid on February 13, 2009 at 05:48 AM

Wade wins this round. I'm sure we'll see some more of them in the future. Nice to see that punk get his nose broke. Belak is known for his right hook, so when he landed a left one, it took Cam by surprise. Someone asked how a jersey can come off... watch the fight on Nov 18, 2006

Posted by kings0575 on February 13, 2009 at 01:02 AM

about time someone kick that p@ssys janssens ass, ko all the way. great hit, and a great finish on janssen's face.

Posted by kronvallizer78 on January 18, 2010 at 04:09 PM

goodness total missmatch in size and weight in this one. moronic decision for one of my favs janssen to take on belak who landed with the sledgehammer. domination win advise to janssen stay in your weight class

Posted by shane0mack on February 13, 2009 at 09:53 AM

it's one thing to start a fight for any given hit. it's another if that hit is delivered by a 6'5" goon on a much smaller guy that is a borerline elbow and is delivered with enough force that the little guy has trouble getting up (i.e. if a hit might have injured him). this is an acceptable case for janssen to step in... ...and so he stepped in. and then belak took him out. tko.

Posted by FightNight7 on February 13, 2009 at 09:46 PM

Belak clearly won, BUT it wasnt a KO. Shut up homers

Posted by evol_lurk on February 13, 2009 at 03:40 AM

Posted by dropkick25 on February 13, 2009 at 07:23 PM

TKO for Belak. This fighting after clean hits is now out of control,do these guys know they're not playing pee-wee anymore?Love the fights but big open ice hits are becoming extinct.Hate the instigator rule but maybe they should use it to stop that crap.

Posted by gmr133 on February 14, 2009 at 12:31 PM

Belak with the clear win. No props to Janssen--stupid play to start a fight with a guy because he hit one of your team with a clean hard check. Try checking him back, otherwise give janssen the extra two for instigating or delay of game. The game is hockey, which includes hard hits--keep playing.

Posted by mrsnake on February 19, 2009 at 08:30 PM

Janssen pads his win / loss record by fighting light weights. Takes on a real tough guy like Belak and look what happens, Janssen gets KO'ed.

Posted by Lucky33 on February 16, 2009 at 03:48 AM

I think that first left by Belak really stunned Janssen. It was over right there. Can't imagine anyone calling this a draw, let alone thinking Janssen won. Belak is a good fighter. Not a huge guy, but very skilled. I always enjoy his fights. On a side note... What is with so many of you whining about players retaliating for big hits? Do you not understand the purpose of standing up for your teammates regardless of whether or not the hit was clean? It's the nature of the sport. Why come to a hockey fight site and complain about guys fighting? Seems kind of ironic if you ask me...

KTFO! And Janssen's parents got to see it in person. It was a good night to be a Preds fan. Props to Janssen for standing up for his guy who happened to really need it at that moment.

Total win by Belak. He waits for the right moment and lands with a gnarly left. The retaliations for clean hits have to stop. If a Pred did what Janssen did I would still be upset. I'm glad he got dropped for a retaliation that wasn't necessary.

how does anyone justify not giving belak the win. that said, not sure why people are questioning janssen's ability. based on reviews on this website he is 10-4-2 this year, including a "win" over belak on 12/8/08.
