Posted by tattooedkingpin on March 11, 2009 at 12:07 PM

Credit to Erskine. was in a bad position at the start of the fight, but stormed back and gave Belak his moneys worth. Draw.

Posted by stich on March 12, 2009 at 05:23 AM

Erskine wanted to fight Belak and he got one, just a little face saving for the Caps as their dipshit goon got dropped ... cry me a river!

Posted by MatchPenalty on March 10, 2009 at 11:26 PM

Did anyone see the game? Did this spill over from something earlier? Very un-Belak-like to get the jump on Erskine. He looked pissed off from these two highlights.

Posted by C. Alter on March 12, 2009 at 09:05 PM

Lousy call be the refs: where was the instigator call? Tootoo fight plus the two for Belak suggests that the Preds are good fighters, but not prepared to play hockey. Oops: where are they in the standings?

Posted by flyguy64 on March 11, 2009 at 10:28 AM

I called it a draw, with both fighters getting in some nice shots.

Posted by LorenzoNash on March 11, 2009 at 01:04 PM

Erskine's best punch was a head butt.

Posted by ETR on March 11, 2009 at 12:27 PM

Close spirited fight, draw....

Posted by dunno on March 11, 2009 at 02:27 AM

why does that dude keep calling Belak, Velak?

Posted by b.t.wilson on March 10, 2009 at 10:39 PM

That was an okay fight, but for how cool Belak is, that was a pretty douchebag move on his part. I mean, unless someone does something extremely blatant and deserves their arse-kicking, you gotta give a guy a chance to say no I don't wanna go man... draw and a 6.

Posted by Blackhawk23 on March 11, 2009 at 12:32 AM

Gave it a draw, glad no instagator was called. Erskine could be a top guy if he would fight more.

Posted by bruins rule on March 10, 2009 at 10:54 PM

good fight between these 2 big guys.

Posted by lorenzaccio on March 10, 2009 at 10:59 PM

Belak found someone to dance with... Draw.

Posted by daflyersman on March 12, 2009 at 12:33 PM

After his KO of Brashear, Belak follows up with a comparatively weak performance against Erskine. However, both men stood toe-to-toe and fought valiantly. Draw.

Posted by orr4president on June 06, 2011 at 04:39 AM

Erskine gets a little respect back for his team after huggy bear got popped

Posted by ChickenSwede on March 11, 2009 at 03:13 AM

i actually wouldve paid good money to see this game live (not bad considering it's the nhl year 2009). erskine should fight more often, throws with some serious intent - both of them did.

Posted by Big_Goon on March 11, 2009 at 06:41 AM

There should have been an instigator call... Erskine gets started late but manages a draw, maybe even a slight edge. Draw

Posted by majew17 on March 11, 2009 at 12:28 AM

jesus christ..............this couldnt be any more of a clear example of an instigator penalty. as much as i like Erskine,he's gotta know who is riding him at the boards

Posted by Jellyczar on March 11, 2009 at 08:41 AM

great fight....draw

Posted by mikebflorida on March 11, 2009 at 09:52 AM

I gave this one a draw. Good fight. A pissed off Erskine is a dangerous opponent for anyone. Both landed some good shots. Why is anyone whining about how the fight started? Erskine bumps Belak and Belak is ready to go and beat on him. Is he supposed to ask first? Jesus christ some of you are focking stupid and obviously never been in a fight anywhere outside your mommas bedroom.

Posted by BrianTheAdsFan on March 11, 2009 at 10:05 AM

Good scrap with both connecting about the same. Solid draw.

Posted by jbaker3924 on March 11, 2009 at 10:08 AM

Draw. good fight

Posted by Juha82 on March 11, 2009 at 05:01 AM

very good job by both man A DRAW.

Posted by alsport on March 10, 2009 at 11:38 PM

It's getting easier and easier to know which team the announcers work for when you see these fights.

Posted by BooSanta on March 12, 2009 at 12:51 PM

Great slugfest from Waderunner again. Erskine does alot better than Brash here. Belak clearly instigates this but the zebs were't near it enough to determine. Belak gets some chucks early but Erskine looks to be exchanging punch for punch as the bout wore on. Will have to call this a draw for now.. Needs about a dozen more views.

Posted by nuckles88 on March 11, 2009 at 08:23 PM

good scrap but id say its a draw for sure. Belak is a total trooper tho

Posted by jr_howie on March 12, 2009 at 04:14 PM

Posted by MonkeyQuatro on March 11, 2009 at 10:18 PM

Dear Capitals, How does my ass taste? Signed, Wade Belak

Posted by victrader on March 11, 2009 at 12:04 PM

Close fight. Belak started early but that is not "jumping" a guy! Belak earned his paycheck in this game.

Posted by crosscheck52 on March 11, 2009 at 07:13 AM

Draw. I hate listening to the Washington announcers. They see penalties that didn't happen and punches that aren't thrown. This was a good fight, but seriously was there a winner?

Posted by pepsigenerate on March 11, 2009 at 12:17 AM

good fight for these two , better then the brashere fight ... 23 shots by belak and 16 shots by erskine. { call that one even}.with both alot of energy in that fight.{extra point for belak for going round two}.

Posted by Rantavahti on March 11, 2009 at 01:52 PM

Nicely done by Erskine. He came back good after Belak's jumpstart, which was a bit unfair...

Posted by Lister100 on March 10, 2009 at 10:58 PM

Considering Belak jumped him, I scored this a draw. Erskine answered back pretty well.

Posted by kirk lesko on March 12, 2009 at 12:54 PM

watch and listen people. erskine clearly bumped mr. belak after the whistle. he wanted to fight mr. belak for knocking out the don.

Posted by J C ALVARADO on March 10, 2009 at 10:40 PM

Great fair fight against Brash, but again, Velak goes back to his old self and tries to get the upper hand in a fight by dropping the gloves and jumping the guy. Goes back to his cheap tacktics. Lost respect for him once again but still loved the KO on old man brash. Draw even after jumping Erskine.

Posted by Luque1 on March 11, 2009 at 11:26 AM

Decent fight. Both were a bit excited. Draw and 8

Posted by RoboSmash on March 10, 2009 at 11:53 PM

Seemed like Belak gave him a few second to prepare himself before he started throwing hard. Erskine is pretty much heavyweight level and can definetly handel himself (remember him breaking Lucic's nose and putting him on IR for weeks?,) you could tell Ersk was throwing really hard and could have done some real damage if any had connected. PS Belak is just trying to get in all of the unprovoked fighting he can before it is outlawed (*see homepage).

Posted by Clark75 on March 12, 2009 at 07:38 PM

Draw. Good scrap.

Posted by KO22 on March 11, 2009 at 07:49 AM

Could these commentators be any more retarded? Instigator "because he dropped his gloves first"? Honestly, where do they hire these morons? Are they lawn bowling castaways? The fight was a draw, it was a good scrap though.

Posted by Big Little Tank on March 12, 2009 at 12:31 AM

Great Tilt. Two strong, tough gladiators going at it here! 10/10

Posted by mike563 on March 11, 2009 at 06:08 PM

belak better enjoy it while he can

Posted by Maxwerm on March 11, 2009 at 06:51 PM

. . . and, right back down to earth. John who? If Belak can DESTROY Brash, how come he can't handle . . . uh, what was his name again?

Posted by Belak_Norris on March 11, 2009 at 12:44 PM

Preds 3 for 3 in fights this game! I guess Erskine is now the heavyweight on the Caps. He didnt get his ass handed to him like Brashear! Still, I have to give it to my man Belak!

Posted by idiotstupid2002 on March 11, 2009 at 06:59 AM

There's nothing wrong with the way this fight started. It's not like Belak started slamming Backstrom in the face. He and Erskine came together and one guy was ready to go while the other was pretending like he wanted to go. Great night for Belak. Never before have I seen Brashear get destroyed like that.

Posted by truitt on March 11, 2009 at 12:14 PM

slight edge to power shots

Posted by joeye4 on March 12, 2009 at 06:45 AM

Much better fight than the one with Brashear but I still thought Belak had a slight edge.

Posted by dickpoundbrown on March 11, 2009 at 09:53 AM

Another easy win for Belak

Posted by mightyquin on June 25, 2009 at 09:41 PM

erskine bumped belak to try to draw a penalty and then got mad when the refs didnt quickly come to save him i dont know what the hell the play by play idiots were looking at but it wasn't this fight .....

Posted by kingpaolo on March 13, 2009 at 10:20 PM

busy night for Belak.... close fight... but a gooder

Posted by brymaster1 on March 10, 2009 at 10:00 PM

Erskine with the win in a close one .

Posted by huddles on March 10, 2009 at 11:53 PM

erskine with close win, belak is still king for the night, never seen brashear dropped...ever

Posted by Me4dOw on March 11, 2009 at 12:19 AM

Erskine victory.

Posted by carolyn1946 on March 12, 2009 at 08:24 AM

Erskine was slow starter , but win in the end . A lot shots from both.

Posted by Stuntman Mike on March 11, 2009 at 01:03 AM

Gotta give this one to Big John. Landed that big right towards the end. Belak should have quit while he was ahead. My kinda game.

Posted by jeffj on March 10, 2009 at 11:11 PM

Belak is a punk, jumped Erskine and still couldn't pull it off. I guess he felt froggy after getting lucky with Brashear.

Posted by goalieds on March 11, 2009 at 02:29 AM

looked like Erskine caught Belak in the beak and bloodyed his beak a bit

Posted by wallysy1 on March 12, 2009 at 12:47 AM

close fight--but i think the shots erskine was firing hurt much more than from belak

Posted by seacritt on March 11, 2009 at 09:32 AM

Close win for Erskine after Belak didn't give him a chance to get set. Lack of class by Belak.

Posted by staceyb on March 11, 2009 at 05:42 AM

Erskine landed the more telling blows.

Posted by GSP09 on March 12, 2009 at 09:20 PM

I guess the Heavyweight Champ title did not last to long for Belak, cause Eskrine rocked him pretty good

Posted by killerkelly on April 10, 2009 at 11:13 AM

If Belak wants respect as a top heavyweight, he needs to drop the ambush from his repertoire. Erskine gets the win. It was close but only because Belak through half a dozen punches before Big Jon even new he was in a fight.

Posted by jesstyr on March 11, 2009 at 01:51 PM

Belak had every advantage but still dropped the bout. Erskine manned up for a guy who doesnt usually drop the gloves. Slight edge to Erskine.

Posted by EDDUBBS on March 11, 2009 at 02:32 AM

It seems that Belak became Brashear and started using that cheap jab shit. Erskine wins in a close one.

Posted by MACMAN214 on March 11, 2009 at 02:05 AM

Erskine in a close bout

Posted by paddyd on March 11, 2009 at 10:24 AM

More serious shots landed by Erskin

Posted by SirYohans on March 10, 2009 at 11:20 PM

Belak got the jump on 'em but didn't do much with it. When the dust settled, Edge Erskine. However, Belak is still king for the night.

Posted by Santokh_Gill on March 11, 2009 at 04:52 AM

Erskine edged it by a fraction ,seen ta land 1 or 2 more punches but W.B was the instigator and nevar backed down , so call it a DRAW.

Posted by timm0 on March 11, 2009 at 10:36 AM

I'd have called it a draw if Belak didn't start throwing before Erskine dropped his gloves. Tips the scale in Erskine's favor by spotting a few punches.

Posted by skipjack fan on March 13, 2009 at 10:23 PM

i wish erskine fought more.over the years i've watched him he's had great fights and won almost all of them.i think if he did stay busy with other heavyweights he would suprise and maybe be a top 5

Posted by acd1 on March 11, 2009 at 08:19 PM

Erskine with the win in a nice scrap.

Posted by rowbearprobear on March 12, 2009 at 04:38 PM

a man fighting out of fear is a dangerous thing. erskine is that man. win erskine (by a hair).

Posted by Awesome-0 on March 15, 2009 at 12:15 AM

Erskine with the slightest of edges.

Posted by ogie ogiltorpe on March 11, 2009 at 01:49 PM

Great job by both tiny edge to Erskine who seemed to get madder as the fight progressed

Posted by theKill280 on March 14, 2009 at 03:44 AM

bwlak punched b4 erskine had his gloves off and still lost

Posted by homeland on March 12, 2009 at 11:39 AM

You can tell Johnny was fired up for this one.

Posted by njteech on March 11, 2009 at 03:08 PM

Erskine ..better shots

Posted by DARCY T on May 28, 2009 at 02:14 PM

belak have been punished for win over brashear even when he started erskine

Posted by caps365 on March 11, 2009 at 11:33 PM

Erskine got more shots in. Belak still had a good night.

Posted by m4rine77 on November 21, 2009 at 12:29 PM

i'm giving the win to erskine for the only strong shots landing. belak threw em but none really connected

Posted by mrpowers535 on March 10, 2009 at 11:00 PM

belak (not Velak,J C ALVARADO ) got the best of brashear but erskine got the better of him here even with belak throwing three punches like a punk before erskine even had the mitts off

Posted by ghjkfdhgfd on April 16, 2011 at 05:26 AM

Posted by Dijo on March 11, 2009 at 12:38 AM

I have no problem with the way the fight started. In the Brashear fight they set up and they dropped the gloves off the faceoff. This one was different. Watch it again. Erskine and Belak collide after the whistle. Belak probably felt that Erskine did that on purpose. Belak and Erskine get their gloves up in each others face and Belak decides that he better start throwing because Erskine probably will. Get real guys. This was his 2nd fight and maybe he needed a little jump start. Erskine was stupid for not seeing this coming. I hardly think that Belak "jumped him".

Posted by TrueBlue26 on March 11, 2009 at 04:23 PM

good fight, draw

Posted by PICKLEHAMMER on March 11, 2009 at 09:39 AM

Belak should have let him drop the gloves first.

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on March 11, 2009 at 03:03 PM

I'll say draw.

Posted by knuckleballs on March 11, 2009 at 06:56 AM

It looked like Erskine caused the initial bump inside the blue line and then doesn't think it may cause a fight. How wierd????????????

Posted by J.R. Abel on March 22, 2009 at 01:11 AM

Good job by Erskine to not get knocked out. Called it a draw and a 6.

Posted by gmr133 on March 11, 2009 at 09:56 AM

Instigator? Announcers are idiots. Draw.

Posted by philabronc on March 12, 2009 at 08:39 PM

If that not an instigator penalty, then what the hell is??

Posted by chad420 on March 15, 2009 at 07:35 PM

Posted by mute on March 11, 2009 at 12:27 PM

sweet fight, close

Posted by rocky7482 on March 12, 2009 at 08:35 PM

awesome of erskine to engage after seeing what happened to brash....erskine is not of belak's caliber but he held his own in this one....certainly better than brashear!

Posted by sjovocop55 on March 11, 2009 at 02:28 PM

Good bout by two heavyweights!!!

Edge to JE

Posted by tim daddy on March 11, 2009 at 05:03 PM

good fight, erskine with the very slight edge. considering that he didn't seem ready at the begining, and i'm not saying that it was cheap, just that he recoverd nicely from a slow start, most guys wouldn't have stood a chance against belak in that situation.

Posted by wannago_letsgo on March 11, 2009 at 10:59 AM

I am really glad the recalled their comments about the instigator after watching the replay for a moment there I thought maybe these guys were related to mcb789, gotta give the edge to Erskine, more thrown, more landed, Belak looked a bit tired.

Posted by tomales2 on March 11, 2009 at 12:10 AM

From hero of the evening to a punk in the matter of minutes. Draw, I guess.

Posted by gershy101 on March 11, 2009 at 08:24 AM

4skin didn't want to go at first... especially after seeing Donkey Punch Donald get KO'd by Belack... but then I thoguht Erskin took it to em'. after a semi sucker punch by Belack before Erskin dropped the gloves Erskin pounded away and tossed him around ragdoll style. Both landed some good shots but Erskin controled it more think. Way to go Erskin for some good tough play and redeeming the other 2 losses.

Posted by cji1065 on March 11, 2009 at 05:48 PM

Give the edge to Erskine, came on strong .

Posted by omgitslafferty on March 12, 2009 at 08:47 PM

Belak is a sissy. not to take anything away from his ko of brash, but come on its hockey and you're the enforcer, if you start a fight just because someone bumps you a little after the wistle, then you don't deserve to be considered a real heavyweight. considering that, as show in the video, belak threw a couple of shots without his gloves, while erskine still had his gloves on, the edge has to go to erskine for coming back late.

Posted by Dave_42 on March 11, 2009 at 09:48 AM

At least he restrained until Erskine got the mitts off. However for Erskine to come back after that start and land the best punches of the scrap I gave him the W-8
