Rivet looks like a raging alcoholic in this one in need of some stress management. I looked at this one a couple of times and Rivet wouldn't have caught an elbow had he not ducked down so low. He would have definately lost this fight had he went fair and square but Nashville sucks anyways at playing fair. One of the dirtiest teams in the league if you ask me. At least they lost one of their dirtiest in Hordichuck.

Rivet gave himself quite a head start, and really only had greater activity to show for it. Not enough to give a win on, in my book.

Rivet is a punk. You lost take your ball and go home.......

Rivet is lucky Jackman wasn't on the ice.

Rivet should be fined and suspended.... Hooliganism like that should only be done too Buffalo... Sutton still gets the W

sutton's check was nothing. rivet over-reacted and should get fined for that cheapshot. as for the fight, apparently no one saw sutton's right-left-right after he got set, with the last one stunning rivet a bit. only good and legit punch that rivet gets in is the uppercut at the end. i can consider this a draw or edge to sutton, but no way is this a win for rivet. too many homer sabre fans on this site. and for the guy question the game misconduct, it's automatic (and i believe he misses the next game?) for instigating fights in the last 5 minutes of the game.

sutton got pummeled. sutton is a big puzzy just like hal gill is.

Rivet would look good in a habs jersey with a "C". Better than Gill. Not as big but can fight. Rivet with the win.

I don't like automatic fights after big checks, but it looked like Sutton attempted a forearm/elbow head shot to Rivet. I'm glad he let Sutton know about it. It's too bad about the idiotic instigator rule. Too many reckless plays going on lately. Good for Rivet, letting the Islanders know the Sabres won't stand for that cheap stuff.

Rivet is the MAN.. too bad gaustad and kaleta are out with flu or they would have put this team in their place..on their asses. But montador and rivet did a pretty good job

i thought it was clear that Rivet won he threw alot of punches 2 the temple

Rivet is such a tool. One of those guys who only fights non-fighters or guys who he knows he'll have no problem with. If you see yourself as a tough guy there's lots of guys to choose from.

Posted by BritishRedWing on November 01, 2009 at 06:28 PM

Rivet is a tough s.o.b., but that was weak, swinging on Sutton before he knew they were fighting. Thus, draw.

It was not a cheap shot by Sutton. He was looking to finish his check, and Rivet ducked down real low, so it would appear Sutton was going with his elbow. But he wasn't... And Mair did just hit Moulson from behind if you watch the end of the video, so the Sabres have no right to complain. Aside from being frustrated, Rivet had no reason to drop the gloves. And with the instigator rule in the last 5:00 minutes: I don't think he will be suspended, nor should he be suspended. Craig Rivet is a good player, and one of their best d-man. Usually suspensions would be handed out if they had a goon on the ice with 2 minutes left down by 4 goals. Rivet was on the ice for a reason.

Draw. Sutton was clearly surprised, since it didn't look like he tried to go high, and certainly didn't go hard, and I couldn't see much if any contact, since Rivet either ducked or otherwise went low. At least Rivet didn't mug a smaller guy who can't handle himself. If ever the instigator call was appropriate, this is it. Don't know about a game misconduct though.

win rivet..a 2

Down by four, Rivet lets out his aggression, understood.

Posted by dogthedevilfan on November 01, 2009 at 12:00 AM

hate to give a guy the win when he throws a cheap shot but...

Posted by tomales2 on November 01, 2009 at 01:02 AM

I like Rivet and he won this fight, but the shot didn't look too bad to me. He over reacted, imo

Posted by azjim on November 01, 2009 at 01:19 AM

Good job by Rivet.

Gotta love when a vet just snaps and starts chucking knucks. Easy win for Rivet
