Some of you so called hockey fights fans should clean your glasses and read the rule book. That hit was legal and on more than 100 times I have seen Flyers players do the same thing. Get off the couch and do something else because you guys are making this game into a sissy sport.

Cote with the win. For all the homers...JVR asked to play rough with Armstrong. Watch the four cross checks he gave Armstrong on the faceoff. If he didn't want to get physical, he should have played the girl card on the faceoff and kept his panties up. Armstrong did get the charging which he deserved. Dirty hit? No. Of course the homer announcers are all over the "dirty hit" thing but never mentioned the four cross checks that got Armstrong's attention to start the whole thing. Must be some carryover from his days with the Pens.

I don't know where you guys are getting the "turtling Armstrong" stuff - Asham was on him before he had a chance to get his fists up. Asham did what he was supposed to do - he stuck up for his teammate. Good for him. He gets the win in the fight. But JVR playing stickey poke before the faceoff with a guy like Armstrong - what did he expect to happen?

Van-whatever was hacking and chopping Armstrong even before the face-off, so it's no suprise that when he went into the corner with his head down...he ended up getting smoked. Asham with the win, Van -whatever with the instigator, and a game misconduct to the homer announcers for over-reactive whining.

at first i wasn't too happy asham jumped in to thump on armstrong, i thought it was one of those clean hits/gotta fight deals. but then i saw one of the angles on the replay that showed armstrong clearly take a run at the guy with the long hard to pronounce name. i thought those were the kind of hits the NHL was trying to crack down on, "legal but dirty". so all in all, i say good job asham, you did what you had to. wouldn't call it much of a fight, but asham definitely wins the beat down.

You like these dominations, when a teamate gets the guy who throws the cheapshot, granted Van Reimsdyk was trading crosschecks with Armstrong and probably knows Armstrong's reputation for headhunts so he should have been more ready. Props to Smashem for watching out for his teamate and destroying Armstrong. The Zebs also called it right here by diffusing further instigations.

Clean Hit!!! and no I'm not a fan of the instigator. Players should police themselves. If you crosscheck a guy 20 times off of a face-off keep your head up the entire shift. I'm giving Colby the win based on the check. No one should win a fight when jumped, so picking a winner with an instigator seems pointless!!!

Let's see... rookie cross checks Armstrong 3 times in face off circle. Refs decide not to call anything. Rookie puts his head down and Armstrong knocks him into next week. Asham comes charging in and starts fighting Armstrong before Armstrong has a chance to drop his gloves. Armstrong shouldnt have gotten a game misconduct. Asham deserved the instigator penalty. Rookie learns there is a price for doing stupid things like 3 crosschecks even if the refs dont call it.

Unfortunatley, Asham gets the instigator penalty which is and has been slowly ruining the game of hockey since it was instilled. Luckily for the Flyers, the refs give Armstrong a major penalty otherwise, Armstrong is rewarded again for a cheap shot on a defenseless player. Dump the instigator NHL! crap fight. what a b.s. call from these announcers, the armstrong hit was hard but legal. the ref was standing 5 feet from the hit and didn't raise his arm and armstrong kept his elbows in and didn't leave his feet. good hard hockey.
