Some of you so called hockey fights fans should clean your glasses and read the rule book. That hit was legal and on more than 100 times I have seen Flyers players do the same thing. Get off the couch and do something else because you guys are making this game into a sissy sport.

Posted by OGRE412 on November 30, 2009 at 11:53 AM

it would have been better if colbey wasnt blind sided but it was an amazing hit by armstrong

Posted by jnk07899 on December 02, 2009 at 08:12 PM

Colby couldn't have gotten Van wiener any better. That's what he gets for not dropping them. Couldn't set up agaisnt Asham. Good job Colby.

Posted by kryon24 on November 29, 2009 at 08:29 PM

JVR cross checking Coby at the circle and doesn't draw a penalty? He got what he deserved. Did you forget Hockey 101 "Keep your head up or lose it" dumbass. Kudos to Aaron for stepping up for the punk as he probably guessed would have happened. Now JVR can go back and change his diapers.

Posted by hughcares on November 29, 2009 at 09:28 AM

Beautiful hit by Armstrong, the p*ssy can't fight but sure can lay out some hits - give the win to the ugliest guy in the NHL.

Posted by pens08 on November 29, 2009 at 12:32 AM

so its ok for JVR to hit him with a number of crosschecks in the back but armstrongs a punk for hitting him when JVR's head is down? typical flyer fans. that said it is no surprise asham dominated armstrong. armstrong is not a fighter and this should have been an easy win for asham.

Posted by bruiseyoureye on November 28, 2009 at 11:48 PM

what a hit by armstrong!!!!!!!!.......great clean hit by asham a gook?

Posted by icebird_21 on November 28, 2009 at 11:41 PM

Cote with the win. For all the homers...JVR asked to play rough with Armstrong. Watch the four cross checks he gave Armstrong on the faceoff. If he didn't want to get physical, he should have played the girl card on the faceoff and kept his panties up. Armstrong did get the charging which he deserved. Dirty hit? No. Of course the homer announcers are all over the "dirty hit" thing but never mentioned the four cross checks that got Armstrong's attention to start the whole thing. Must be some carryover from his days with the Pens.

Posted by Gunslinger on November 29, 2009 at 09:31 AM

Armstrong is a punk. Why fight when a cheap shot will suffice eh' Colby?

Posted by bwa_aaron on November 29, 2009 at 12:34 AM

I don't know where you guys are getting the "turtling Armstrong" stuff - Asham was on him before he had a chance to get his fists up. Asham did what he was supposed to do - he stuck up for his teammate. Good for him. He gets the win in the fight. But JVR playing stickey poke before the faceoff with a guy like Armstrong - what did he expect to happen?

Posted by grapeshine on November 28, 2009 at 10:46 PM

Total garbage on Armstrong's part.

Posted by Behn Wilson on November 30, 2009 at 03:32 PM

Van-whatever was hacking and chopping Armstrong even before the face-off, so it's no suprise that when he went into the corner with his head down...he ended up getting smoked. Asham with the win, Van -whatever with the instigator, and a game misconduct to the homer announcers for over-reactive whining.

Posted by Remyy on December 11, 2009 at 02:56 PM

#21 needs to learn that this isn't junior's anymore. Definitely a charge though.

Posted by staceyb on November 28, 2009 at 10:30 PM

Asham lays it on Armstrong after the cheap hit on the anointed one JVR.

Posted by bruins rule on November 28, 2009 at 10:19 PM

asham gets the win in this fight.

Posted by Taubi on November 29, 2009 at 01:54 AM

win asham.

Posted by followthecode on November 28, 2009 at 11:19 PM

Asham doing his job, sticking up for the rookie after the charge by Armstrong. Couldn't tell if Armstrong turtled or if he just couldn't get his head up because of Asham's fist. Win Asham

Posted by Mightiestmike on November 29, 2009 at 12:03 PM

I like the Hit on Van Reimsdyk, Reims was cross checking Armstrong Hard on the face off and then what? forgets he's on the ice? What did he think was going to happen? Keep your head up and don't be such a douche-bag. Props to Asham for kicking his ass however

Posted by smasham on November 29, 2009 at 10:20 AM

You crosscheck someone 3-4 times, you gotta keep your head up. The instigator call was as unnecessary as the charging call......

Posted by b.t.wilson on November 28, 2009 at 10:40 PM

at first i wasn't too happy asham jumped in to thump on armstrong, i thought it was one of those clean hits/gotta fight deals. but then i saw one of the angles on the replay that showed armstrong clearly take a run at the guy with the long hard to pronounce name. i thought those were the kind of hits the NHL was trying to crack down on, "legal but dirty". so all in all, i say good job asham, you did what you had to. wouldn't call it much of a fight, but asham definitely wins the beat down.

Posted by dave_brown on November 28, 2009 at 11:48 PM

Garbage hit by Armstrong. Easy win Asham. Just wish he broke Armstrong's jaw in the process.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on November 29, 2009 at 02:27 AM

all Asham

Posted by mcb789 on November 28, 2009 at 10:49 PM

armstrong took a beating in this fight. win for asham.

Posted by kurri17 on November 29, 2009 at 01:06 AM

Asham destroying the pathetic, turtling Armstrong.

Posted by LUCICOWNS29 on December 02, 2009 at 11:42 AM

ya know as much as like to see flyers get leveled with hard hits because of the crap they pulled with being dirty last season ill vote ash anyways

Posted by asakuj on November 30, 2009 at 09:41 AM

Thumbs up for Ashamn for sticking up for the kid.

Posted by Riley32 on November 29, 2009 at 12:41 AM

asham is soo valuable to the flyers and he has been playing well with richards and JVR

Posted by FlyersFan29 on November 28, 2009 at 10:39 PM

this is where the instagator should be taken out.

Posted by QUIGGS22 on November 29, 2009 at 02:40 PM

Asham destroys the coward Armstrong !!!

Posted by BooSanta on December 07, 2009 at 06:31 PM

You like these dominations, when a teamate gets the guy who throws the cheapshot, granted Van Reimsdyk was trading crosschecks with Armstrong and probably knows Armstrong's reputation for headhunts so he should have been more ready. Props to Smashem for watching out for his teamate and destroying Armstrong. The Zebs also called it right here by diffusing further instigations.

Posted by Rockhound6165 on November 28, 2009 at 11:04 PM

Armstrong is a punk and should be suspended. Asham didn't do nearly enough to him.

Posted by LANER815 on December 06, 2009 at 01:36 AM

Cheap shot...and Armstrong paid for it!

Posted by smwarpig63 on November 28, 2009 at 10:53 PM

colby got what he deserved. cheap shot on JVR and a nice pummeling by asham. and before all you flyers haters get your panties in a bunch, richards was a cheap shot on booth, it's just a shame that the panthers are all pussies and didn't defend their star player.

Posted by acd1 on November 29, 2009 at 10:30 AM

Asham sticking up for his team mate. I didn't think the Armstrong hit was dirty and I didn't think Asham deserved an instigator. Should have just been 5 and 5. TKO win Asham

Posted by Togalthorpe on November 30, 2009 at 05:57 AM

expect a beating after smoking a guy like that. Win Asham

Posted by EDDUBBS on November 29, 2009 at 11:32 AM

Colby Armweak is a full blown punk. Asham pounded the bitch. I wish he would have broken that pointy nose into pieces...maybe next time.

Posted by shawnfightlover on November 29, 2009 at 12:04 PM

Asham beat him up

Posted by niftyweave on November 29, 2009 at 10:06 AM

what was wrong with the hit? flyers are terrible, so is assram.

Posted by Real Rodey on December 01, 2009 at 04:24 PM

These homer announcers should get to more hockey games. Because their guy took a hit when his head was down they are calling Armstrong a cheap shot. Well, I listen to most of the other announcers arounf the league and these are the biggest two whiners I have heard.

Posted by Snowrider on November 29, 2009 at 11:09 AM

Who care about Philadephia players anyway

Posted by knuckleballs on November 29, 2009 at 01:21 PM

Clean Hit!!! and no I'm not a fan of the instigator. Players should police themselves. If you crosscheck a guy 20 times off of a face-off keep your head up the entire shift. I'm giving Colby the win based on the check. No one should win a fight when jumped, so picking a winner with an instigator seems pointless!!!

Posted by J.R. Abel on December 14, 2009 at 06:51 PM

Not a fight.

Posted by millerdvr on November 28, 2009 at 10:49 PM

asham clubbed that kid down like a baby seal, asham with the strong pimp hand

Posted by azjim on November 30, 2009 at 04:53 AM

Draw. I can't give credit to a guy for a win when he jumped the opponent like Asham did. And I like Aaron Asham. To jump a guy for a great non- dirty hit is wrong. If the kid doesn't want to get hit, he should keep his head up and his stick down.

Posted by Krahn on November 29, 2009 at 02:50 PM

Good hit, fuck everyone and there "unexpected opponent" bullshit, it's fuckin hockey, thats the whole learn from 10 years old, KEEP YOUR HEAD UP KID!

Posted by Andyman on November 29, 2009 at 09:29 PM

Let's see... rookie cross checks Armstrong 3 times in face off circle. Refs decide not to call anything. Rookie puts his head down and Armstrong knocks him into next week. Asham comes charging in and starts fighting Armstrong before Armstrong has a chance to drop his gloves. Armstrong shouldnt have gotten a game misconduct. Asham deserved the instigator penalty. Rookie learns there is a price for doing stupid things like 3 crosschecks even if the refs dont call it.

Posted by whoppr17 on November 29, 2009 at 09:35 AM

van Riemsdyk got what he deserved,. Something he won't do again-crosschecking someone before the face off and not keeping his head up afterwards. It would have been a clean hit if Armstrong hadn't of left his feet.

Posted by Oil Can Henry on November 29, 2009 at 10:44 AM

The game's really, been toned-down,...not long before hitting's outlawed. Charging?,...maybe, yes - certainly, didn't deserve a major - no way.

Posted by piney on November 29, 2009 at 07:23 AM

announcers are total homers. Asham wins a 2

Posted by Richterfan on November 28, 2009 at 11:57 PM

Arsmstrong and van Reimsdyk exchange stick swaps off the faceoff. Armstrong seems upset and runs the Philly player in the corner and puts him down. Asham, does the right thing and immediately pummels the turtling Armstrong to the ice. Unfortunatley, Asham gets the instigator penalty which is and has been slowly ruining the game of hockey since it was instilled. Luckily for the Flyers, the refs give Armstrong a major penalty otherwise, Armstrong is rewarded again for a cheap shot on a defenseless player. Dump the instigator NHL! Let these guys police themselves.

Posted by dogthedevilfan on November 29, 2009 at 09:41 PM

crap fight. what a b.s. call from these announcers, the armstrong hit was hard but legal. the ref was standing 5 feet from the hit and didn't raise his arm and armstrong kept his elbows in and didn't leave his feet. good hard hockey.

Posted by chad420 on December 15, 2009 at 08:51 PM

the enforcer AA...........homage to the horseman

Posted by smf on November 28, 2009 at 10:40 PM

retribution. armstrong deserved more than he got.

Posted by big10drup8787 on November 29, 2009 at 11:35 PM

JVR needs to keep his head up, especially after throwing several cross checks. Good job by Asham though for sticking up for his young teammate (even if it was a good, clean hit). Asham definitely gets he win here.

Posted by BigBadWolf1171 on November 29, 2009 at 12:27 PM

clean hit, elephant man asham doin the right thing, the instigator rule allows another clean but nasty hit get the powerplay. fk u bettman

Asham cranked up Armstrong

Posted by acdcrocksno1 on November 29, 2009 at 02:59 AM

This is the sort of thing that shouldnt be an istagator penalty armstong instigated it with the hit on jvr
