In the Day, star or not, Thornton would have to pay for that hit. Good job by Coture to step in, good job by Petro to step up...GREAT job by Perron to wake up from that one and get the ultimate revenge by scoring a goal. Pietrangelo does enough to handle ''Haute'' Couture in a non-event. As for the hit...Thorton saw a gift horse coming his way, that was borderline legit, and in that split second, he decided to over-rule the ethics of the situation...and just go for it.. As FrankLexy said, Perron was playing the puck, and therefore, technically fair game...but Thornton's a character guy who probably knew that he'd crossed the line the minute the two made contact. Still...to those of us who play, or have played the game... are you telling me that you're sure you'd hold up on the follow through if you found yourself in a similar situation?

The fight was over shadowed by Thorton's hit. Slight edge to Pietrangelo. Don't know why Thorton's in the box ? I feel he should either out of the game for the head shot or it's a legal shoulder hit ! It's one or the other ...the refs sat on the fence on this call. Looks like double standards to me because it's " Joe ". Agreeing with Behn...legal check on paper , but ?? crossed the line.

Pietrangelo is going to have a heck of a time if he tries fighting anyone else, but still a good first effort.

Alex is a stud. Not only is he a top young defense man but he stood up for his teammate. He was trying to get to Thorton. Speaking as scum bags, WTF. Everyone says Joe is a good guy, clean player. Well the proof is in the pudding baby. Thortshit came out of the box and he lined Perron up and drove his shoulder into Perron's face in a pure, not only blindside, but sneak out of the box hit. In the immediate post impact, his right shoulder comes up showing how hard and intentional it was to nail a fellow professional in the face. In his last 3 seconds on the ice, two dirty hits. He was in the box for a dangerous hit. When I played, I would have dropped by shoulder and hit him at the hip and flipped him or dropped him legally. Clean and good and pretty and gets team going. Thortshit shows no respect for the professions in his league. When winning becomes more important than dirty hits on your opponents and fellow professional, you are no longer a good guy. You are an evil pissant. He is an embarrassment to himself, his team and his city. Someone needs to prove that what goes around comes around. Perron missed the next game at least, but scoring a key goal after the hit is Paul Kariya-esk. Good job Perron and Alex Pietrangelo. Blues kicked their ass too.

Don't skate with your head down and you won't get popped. If you can't take a clean hit, then become a quarterback in the NFL. The NHL is now allowing guys to skate around with their eyes glued to the puck instead of looking up for hits like the one Joe put on Perron. Not much to say about the so-called fight. The hit, on the other hand, was wrong by rule, but seriously back when hockey was an actual contact sport that is what was called a "Hospital Pass" and the passer of such a pass is the one that should get his ass kicked not the hitter. Unborn kids felt that one. Hoorah for old school hockey!
