Of course McCormick gets the win but I think this fight was more even than most are saying. McCormick was chucking the bombs but largely missing while Commodore was jabbing away with more effect. But then (oops) Commodore loses his grip while jabbing and he's wide open. He notices his prediciment and starts to turn away from the incoming but that only makes the connection look more dramatic than it really was when it finally did hit as he was nowhere close to being balanced. mccormick definitely takes this one but i don't think commodore was feeling too run over by the end of it. in the box he was looking like he was thinking about what shoes to wear after the game.

I give it to McCormick but I must say a bigger deal was made out of that punch that knocked down Commodore. If you watch the punch actually hit the helmet and seemed it was more of the force of the punch then it was hitting cleanly, this is the reason why I rated this fight a 5. It was an impressive punch but a dominate victory none the less. I wouldn't call it a tko as the punch didn't hit cleanly and neither were wrose for where. They both got up and went their way. The punch hit the top of the helmet actually.

I rated it higher than others might because it is what fighting in hockey is intended to be. Player calling out another for questionable play, both answered bell.

In this fight and the Kaleta fight, they weren't worried about getting a grip, sweater punching and trying to time a punch while avoiding getting hit like a lot of hockey fights these days. Both were fights were just reckless enough to be effective. If more people fought like this and took a few chances, there would be a lot better fights.

lol @ b.t.wilson. I was thinking the same thing before reading that post. I'm sad to say that, after watching hockey for 20 years, I've grown bored with fighting. Non-fans will ask me, "why are they allowed to fight in hockey?" and my reply is usually, "because it's self-policing; it deters cheap play" but hmm...I simply don't believe that anymore. It obviously doesn't. Not to mention the fights between the actual "tough guys" like Boogaard, etc. Who cares? They're just wasting a roster spot for someone who can actually skate. Remember when Carolina won the Cup with a no-fighting policy?

The Commodore hit was NOT a cheap shot. Kaleta had just done a 180 turn, and Commodore made a clear effort to let up on the hit instead of plowing into him. Love the rough stuff though.

Very easy win for McCormick. Run people from behind, get a beat down. Its fair if nothing else. For a guy who was on the ice when E. Cole got his neck broke from the same kind of hit. It was a very classles hit from behind.
